About Jeff
Denning was born in New York City and raised in the Connecticut countryside surrounded by dairy farms and pastures. Summers spent on a east coast island during his teens served as the inspiration for his first book. Denning graduated from a small college in New Mexico with a B.A. in Business Administration. Later he moved to Arizona, which he still calls “home.” While working in the technology field, he found his niche working with people, not computers. Forty years in marketing, consulting, and coaching honed his skills of communications, observation, and introspection. Eventually his career took him to Southern California, where he met his wife, Patty, an artist who also shares his passion for scuba diving and travel.

Denning has had a lifelong interest in writing. He began journaling at age 13, the same year he won an essay contest by writing about a cute girl walking his way in the school library. Instead of “I sank in my seat,” he wrote, “I sang in my seat.” The judges called it an exceptional use of hyperbole. Today, Denning’s philosophy is that storytelling and self-revelation are essential to self-awareness and creating a lasting sense of purposefulness.
Denning’s passion for sailing and diving led to extensive travel, which, in turn, became an inspiration for writing, leading to his second and third books. He learned Spanish to better appreciate, respect, and understand diverse cultural groups and their traditions while traveling in Mexico and Central America. When not traveling, writing, tuning pianos, or creating stained glass artwork, Denning remains in close touch with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who are scattered around the country. To Denning, his family is what matters most.
